Sonika was born August 4th, 1995 and was instantly musically inclined. Her earliest influences included Disney Princesses, Michael Jackson, and Billy Joel. As she grew older she followed amazing artists such as Josh Groban, Celine Dion, Whitney Houston, Mariah Carey, Harry Connick Jr. and Carrie Underwood.
With a passion for music in her heart and a gift passed down from her grandfather to her mom and then to her, she embarked on the incredible journey of American Idol and the country was introduced to Sonika as she became a top 5 finalist.

"Basically, I owe my whole entire musical abilities to my grandfather because, without him, I would've never sang. My mom would've never sang. He passed it to my mom and my mom passed it to me."

American Idol was only the beginning. Sonika has gone on to sing the National Anthem in key venues including Fenway Park, write and record her music and collaborate with other artists. She fuels her drive by engaging with her fans and she is excited to see what the future holds.

“I want to thank everyone who has followed my career and tell you how much you mean to me. I think back to the little girl in me that never thought she could do anything ESPECIALLY not be an American Idol. You give me the strength to perform and push myself to places I never thought were possible for me. The journey goes on ...!”
